I usually use 8.5 by 11 inches at 300 dpi. I'll use larger canvas sizes if I plan on making an elaborate illustration with a background (I think for those ones I use 20 inches by 16 inches).

Does Photoshop run slow at these settings for you, too? Or do I need to buy a new video card or something? When I zoom in/out it's blocky and takes a second. :(

It depends on what your processor is, but it will run a bit slow on my current computer.

Yeah my computer is really old... Precision 650 with an ATIX1650 Pro 512mb card (not really made for drafting)

I wonder how much money it would cost to build a computer that will run Photoshop CS4 with no lag. I should check out the Apple store tomorrow.

I have heard that CS4 requires 2 GB of RAM minimum, so you'd probably want to get 3 or 4 to be safe and not have to buy a new computer for awhile.
